So much going on!!

Hello aerial friends! I hope this message finds you all healthy and happy today! I wanted to reach out because there is a LOT going on over the next month, and I wanted to make sure everyone is in the loop!

Valentine’s Day Performance!!!!

We are so excited/ nervous/ proud to be hosting a fundraiser for Be More Like Claire on Saturday, February 18th. Many of our Continuing Level Aerialists have been working hard to create aerial pieces centered around many relationship themes. As you may or may not know, a large portion of Be More Like Claire’s mission is to educate and raise awareness around relationship violence and control.

This event will be a unique view into relationships through the mesmerizing movement of the aerial artists and will feature bites and beverages from local restaurants. Hosted by Inspired Aerial Arts to benefit #BeMoreLikeClaire.
Don't miss out on an evening you'll always remember!

Due to the sensitive nature of this material, this show is only for 21+. with limited tickets.

Mixed Method Movement WORKSHOPS

Mark your calendars! We have invited Samuel Beecher back for more mixed methods movement fun!

In this introductory workshop Samuel will lead participants through a variety of movements, both playful and challenging, that will help with mobility, strength, and creative expression in movement.

The movements will be taught in a progressive style with several points of entry and options for development based on your specific body. Movements will include hand-balancing and inversions, a variety of crawling forms, and contemporary floorwork.

After specific movements are practiced, he will then integrate them into short sequences that take you to the floor, in the air, and around the room with opportunities to improvise and explore along the way. He will finish the workshop with a brief embodied meditation practice to help your body integrate what you learned and to find rest and relaxation.

We have two calendar dates set, the first one this coming Sunday at 11!

New Session for adult beginning silks, lyra and hammock I and II begins January 30th!

I will be sending out individual emails class by class to help everyone assess which class they should be re-signing up for, but for most, the class level and time you are in currently will be the right fit!

On that note: I have added in a few class levels to help fit everyone in classes! I know a few of our groups are getting massive, and we really needed to make another level or two to spread everyone out a bit better!

Our new Silks Class progression is listed Below:

Beginning I: Absolute beginner!

Beginning II: Be able to climb and tie a single foot lock

Beginning III: Have hip key and double foot locks

Continuing I: Ability to invert and perform the cross back Salto with comfort, should know haw to climb in at least 3 different styles, and should be able to invert in an x back.

Continuing II: Should feel comfortable inverting to catchers, s wrap, should have ability to stay in the air for sustained periods. Have your teacher’s blessing before joining this level:)

Continuing III: Teacher’s permission to join this level.

To sign up for your next session, here’s the link to our adult classes:

Youth Beginning Silks Ages 6-8 begins Monday, January 30th!

We also have a new session beginning January 30th for our littlest aerialists (ages 6-8). This class meets Mondays at 5pm for one hour, and meets for 4 weeks! This condensed session is a great way to introduce your younger kiddos to the aerial arts in a fun yet challenging class!

NEW FITNESS CLASSES ADDED TO THE SCHEDULE!

Wanted to remind you all that we have added a yoga class to the schedule taught by the lovely Ambika!

Ambika has been intensively studying, performing, and playing in the movement world for over 35 years. Her first career as a dancer organically brought her to yoga for some much-needed healing and balancing. Ambika graduated from her 200hr yoga teacher training in 2008 and became a certified physical therapist assistant in 2015, specializing in Myofascial Release bodywork and self-release techniques. She is currently deepening her knowledge through Yoga Medicine’s 500hr training. Her extensive movement history and current jobs are natural partners and give her the experience to help students find a way to use and improve their body in a healthy, restorative, and joyful way. Her class is influenced by many styles of yoga and mindful movement practices including animal flow, myofascial release, pranayama, and meditation. More info at www.yogambika.com. “My class strives to challenge all levels of practitioners through flowing movement and sustained holds with a focus on anatomical awareness. This creates a sanctuary for you to get in touch with your body and breath, leaving the class feeling invigorated and open to enjoy all that life brings.”

Currently, her yoga classes are Saturdays at 10am, but will be moving to Saturdays at 12pm beginning in February!

In parting today’s memos, I wanted to just reach out to you all about a few important topics centered around aerial training and life:

Important training reminders:

  • If you are attending multiple classes a week, it is imperative that you are taking good care of your body in your downtime, Getting proper nutrition and hydration is paramount, as is keeping a healthy sleep schedule! I want you all to stay healthy and happy through your training process!

  • During open gyms don’t forget to warm up just as we do in class. Getting proper blood flow through your body before pulling on your apparatus will greatly minimize your chance of injury!

IMPORTANT LIFE/ Aerial REMINDERS:

  • This time of year tends to be really hard on a lot of people, both in and out of the studio. Remember your kindness to others can have a much further reaching impact than you realize. We really strive to keep the studio uplifting and nourishing to everyone, and I encourage you all to carry that kindness with you in all aspects of life.

  • This message is especially centered towards our youth aerialists and their parents: Comparing oneself to others is a losing battle. There will always be someone better at something than you, there will always be someone worse. If your child finds themselves comparing themselves to other kids, working hard to reframe this thought process is so important for happiness in the long term both in an out of class. developing a self improvement mentality in which we set small goals based on where we are currently at is a much healthier approach:) I do and will continue talking about this in class:)

  • Similarly, adults in their 30’s and 40’s. It is so easy to compare yourself to what you were in your early 20’s. Be kind to yourself. You will never be 20 again, and your body likely won’t respond to training like it did when you were 20! BUT you can for sure give your aerial movement a perspective and artistic intelligence that you likely didn’t possess when you were younger!

Ok, I think that’s it for now! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

with love,

DeAnna
